Furnace and AC Service in Gibraltar, Michigan

Furnace, AC and water heater service for Gibraltar homes, from our Monroe, Michigan office.

A technician in a red Coleman bucket hat and blue Complete Home Comfort shirt working inside an open furnace cabinet.

Our technicians travel about 20 miles from our Monroe, Michigan office to reach Gibraltar homes.

Gibraltar is a small city on the Detroit River in southeast Wayne County. A network of canals cuts through it, and it has four residential islands: Hall, Edmund, Main and Horse. Our Monroe office at 2020 South Custer Road is about 20 miles away by road.

We service furnaces, air conditioners and water heaters in Gibraltar, on the islands and on the mainland. Phone (734) 384-3910 any day from 7am to 7pm, or book online.

Gibraltar at a glance

  • County: Wayne County, Michigan.
  • ZIP codes: 48173, the Rockwood ZIP, for about 96 percent of the city, and 48183, the Trenton ZIP, for a sliver. The city's own address on its website is Gibraltar, MI 48173.
  • Office: Monroe, about 20 miles by road.
  • Utilities: DTE Electric and DTE Gas.

Houses on the water

Wayne County describes Gibraltar as a city cut by more than five miles of canals, wetlands and streams. The 2020 to 2024 American Community Survey counts about 2,400 homes, with a median build year of 1975. The mix is wide: about 35 percent are older than 1960, about 22 percent date from the 1960s and 1970s, and about 27 percent were built in 2000 or later. Around seven in ten are detached single-family houses, and fewer than one household in five rents.

On a waterfront lot, the A/C condenser often sits where the wind carries leaves, grass and debris into it. A dirty coil makes the unit work harder and fail sooner, so a yearly cleaning pays off here. Inside, if your furnace is in a crawlspace or a tight closet, tell us when you call, and we will bring what we need.

Natural gas, safety and outages

Gibraltar leans on gas more than its neighbors: about 93 percent of households heat with natural gas and about 6 percent with electricity.

  • If there is a gas smell, get out of the house with everyone. Then, from outside and away from the smell, call 911 and DTE Gas, as DTE asks. Call 911 immediately if anyone feels sick or a carbon monoxide alarm sounds. Once DTE says it is safe, we will find the cause.
  • If the power is out, look at DTE's outage map when the neighbors are dark too. The furnace cannot run without power. When it comes back and the heat does not, check the thermostat and the furnace switch, then call.

What we do for Gibraltar homes

We install Coleman and repair Trane, Carrier, Goodman, Lennox and Rheem.

Maintenance near the water

In the spring, have the A/C tune-up done before the first hot spell, including a coil cleaning. Through the summer, hose off the outdoor unit gently and keep plants a couple of feet back from it. In the fall, the furnace tune-up checks the burners, venting and carbon monoxide. A VIP plan covers both visits each year, and we call you to book.

Gibraltar visit prices

Repair or diagnostic visit: $99. The technician finds the problem and gives you the repair price first. The $99 covers the visit and diagnosis. VIP members pay no visit fee.

  • A/C tune-up: $135.
  • Furnace tune-up: $135.
  • VIP plans: The 1-year VIP is $199, the 3-year VIP is $523, and the 5-year VIP is $846.

Booking

We are open 7am to 7pm, 7 days a week. After 7pm the answering service takes your call. Phone (734) 384-3910, or book online. If you live on one of the islands, mention which one.

Christian was great. Fair pricing, showed up same day and called to say he could come sooner as we were without AC. Diagnosed the problem, solved it and got us signed up for the annual maintenance plan for the AC/Furnace. Would highly recommend.

Gibraltar homeowners' questions

Gibraltar uses the Rockwood ZIP. Do you still come out?
Yes. Most of Gibraltar is in 48173 and a sliver in 48183, and neither one changes anything for us. Our Monroe office is about 20 miles away.
Our air conditioner on a canal lot seems to wear out fast. Why?
Outdoor units close to the water and to trees pick up more debris, and a clogged coil runs hotter and harder. A yearly cleaning and a little space around the unit help. If yours is older, we can tell you if a repair is worth it.
Do you work on the islands?
Yes, on all four: Hall, Edmund, Main and Horse. Phone (734) 384-3910 or book online and give us the street address.
Our house feels damp in summer even with the AC on. What helps?
A dehumidifier can help, especially in a basement that smells musty. An air conditioner that is too big for the house can also leave it clammy, because it shuts off before it has pulled the moisture out. We can check the AC and talk through both.

Technician was prompt, professional, and courteous, and prices were reasonable. Would definitely hire again!

We had Micheal come out and look at our furnace and were impressed! We recently had a new furnace put in by a different company and did not have a good experience… The other company basically left us dead in the water with a bill and a furnace that was over heating! Within minutes Michael had it diagnosed and fixed! Don’t go anywhere us trust me!

Jeremy did an outstanding job!!! He also gave me additional information about my installation from the company that installed my boiler. It has been leaking since they put it in, 3 years. They have been out several times without fixing the problem. Jeremy told me what they need to do to make it stop leaking!!!! I'm never calling anyone else for boiler maintenance and repair again.

I want to give a shout out to Complete Home Comfort. This company has gone above and beyond in servicing our heat and AC needs for many years. We just had our fall furnace service check and again, they did not disappoint. Bonus if you or spouse is a veteran. The annual service calls might as well be free. They are veteran owned. No price gouging or pressure sales of any kind. They are always very respectful of our home while working. Excellent service by people who are great at what they do and polite while they are doing it. A+ Rob and Shannon Bruley

Excellent customer service. Called them at 4 pm on a Friday. They said they could have a service tech out that night or first thing in the morning. Then I got a call about 10 mins later from the tech, saying they would be out in about 20 mins. Michael was informative and quick. Found the issue and fixed it in no time. Just great service all around!!

I had a great experience having this company out for the first time. We have lived in our house around Monroe for 4 years after we had it built and have yet to have the furnace looked at until now. Michael was very pleasant to talk to and he brought up a safety issue to me and then quickly corrected it at no cost. Even though it took him 30 seconds to fix it, he showed me what it was and just took care of it. He was very informative and because my wife is a veteran he explained to me their program for veterans and first responders. It is a wonderful program for these folks and he also told me to thank my wife for her service. Their furnace tune up special had ended but they did give me that price and that is much appreciated. I will definitely continue using this company and they are Veteran owned. If you are a veteran or first responder, I would definitely call and inquire about their maintenance program for veterans. I would like to say thank you for your service to their owner as well and to all U.S. veterans.

James from Complete Home Comfort was sent to my home in Newport, MI for a "Second Opinion," on a furnace repair. A week ago I contacted a local Monroe MI HVAC business who installed my brand new furnace in the latter part of October 2023. I was told by the technician doing the estimate repair order who is employed with the original installing company of my furnace that my furnace was no longer under warranty, that my warranty expired last year! The 2 parts were going to cost me with over $2200.00!! My original "Brand New" furnace with installation cost around $5,000.00. I was very concerned about the price and that a brand new furnace would need that costly of a repair and only 3 years old. I had done the biannual maintenance recommended with no noted issues so my gut told me call another local business for a second opinion. I am so glad I followed my gut because Complete Home Comfort had a technician at my Newport, MI within a couple of hours. James called on his way to my home, introduced himself when he came to the door. After my explanation of what my furnace was doing he got into looking at the problem. He found the other companies quoted estimate was misdiagnosed and the repair was way less. Extremely less! James also took the time to call the manufacturer of my furnace and it was never registered by the installing company which would have been a covered part if it had been registered. James was awesome, he had the replacement part on his truck and was able to have it replaced and running within minutes. I am so very happy with Comfort Home Care from my initial call earlier this morning to the repair today! I will highly recommend this business to family and friends. Hopefully I won't need it but if in the future I have problems with my furnace or central air unit, "Complete Home Care," will be the business I call . Thank you Complete Home Comfort for a job well done!

Dude showed up early, serviced my appliances, gave me some advice on how to prevent issues with my furnace and what to look for, he was friendly and professional and they sent the same guy who had been there a year ago, I like that. I only had to take an hr off of work and honestly, if I would have left as soon as he was done I would've been 15 mins behind, thats how straight to business he was about it. For service calls and stuff, being on the ball like that is so appreciated, I've lost full days waiting for cable guys and stuff like that. 10/10 would recommend.

They came out and not only replaced our furnace, hot water tank and air conditioner condenser, they replaced all lines, and repaired the unprofessional job from the previous owner. They worked all day and were great at what they do. I will recommend them to anyone.
